1904 SAVF is op 19 Oktober op inisiatief van mev Georgiana Solomon (‘n Skotse dame) aan huis van mev Annie Botha, eggenote van Generaal Louis Botha, in Pretoria gestig. Die stap het voortgevloei uit ‘n groepie vroue se besorgdheid oor die na-oorlogse nood onder mense. Verskeie dienste het hierop gevolg.
SAVF was founded on the initiative of Mrs Georgiana Solomon (a Scottish lady) on 19 October in Pretoria at the home of Mrs Annie Botha, wife of General Louis Botha. This occasion was attended by a group of women deeply concerned about the dire circumstances prevailing after the war.
1905 Werkskepping en vroueklubs begin in die vorm van die eerste naaldwerkklas.
Job creation and women's groups are launched by means of sewing projects.

2003 Die NCVV in Natal word ingelyf by SAVF. Dienste word nou gelewer in die provinsies van Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga en Noordwes.
The NCVV in Natal become part of SAVF and services are now rendered in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West.
